To blog or not to blog....that is the question

Just wanted to stop in and say that I am fine.  Reading a lot.  Taking care of myself physically.  And seem to be turning my time to other pursuits for now.  I'm not feeling the 'write about what I read' urge that kept me sitting at the computer for most of this year.  So, I'll stop in if it that reappears.  If it doesn't for a while, I'll still be checking in on what you guys share when you have a chance.  And commenting as I have time.

Not saying this blog is at an end, but posts may be sporadic.  With us moving on into the holiday season, well, lots of things going on.  This always seems to be the time of year that I lose my blogging mojo.  Take care and keep on reading!!

  1. Take care of yourself and hope you are doing well!! It certainly is a busy time of year. Seems I only manage bloghopping once or twice every several weeks. Hate that! But hope the reading is good for you anyway!!

    1. The reading is definitely good. And I'm just busy with trying to get my steps in and other stuff. I'll still be around and commenting.

  2. Things do get so busy this time of year and you've had so much going on in general so I can see why you would want to take a break. Hopefully your blogging mojo comes back soon! But until then enjoy your reading and take care of yourself.

    1. I'm definitely working on the 'taking care' thing. Am walking up a storm, which is good. Plus we will be in and out of town for a bit. If nothing else, I'll try to do a 'what I read' list every few weeks. I suspect the 'ole mojo will come back as the year shifts around. If nothing else, a new year always gets me thinking about such things.

  3. I think it's good that you wrote and said this. So often, it seems to me, people just stop writing, and I always wonder if something is wrong. When you write, I will be here to read.

    1. I agree. That's why I wanted to say something. I'm just busy with trying to get my walking done and honestly, I'm just more active right now. Don't feel like sitting - which is sooooo good for me. :-)

  4. Take care! A break can be great when the old reviewing mojo goes off on vacation. Hope it, and you, come back someday though... :)

    1. I'll be around - will definitely be reading and keeping up with other blogs. Maybe I'll post of a list of my finished reads every few weeks. We'll see how it goes.

  5. I understand the need to take a break. I am always taking mini-hiatuses here :)
I'm with you-- the reading is going smoothly but sometimes I just get so darned tired of writing reviews. And yet that is what keeps the conversations flowing between us.

How about you just drop in when the mood hits and mention the new titles you're reading? I feel a close tie to your blog because of the very similar tastes we have and am always picking up new-to-me authors from you. Example: Jane Casey, Susan Hill (plan to, but not read her yet) Louise Penny, Vicki Delany, Elly Griffiths.. can't thank you enough for them :D

    Take care of yourself!

    1. Yes, I'm trying to go with my more active/exercise/walking impulses right now. But you are right about the conversations flowing. I'm going to keep my sidebar book pictures up to date and your suggestion of stopping by and saying what I've been reading is a good one. We're going to be in and out for a while, so though I'll be reading what others say on their blogs, my commenting may be less if I'm reading on my iPad. I hate messing with commenting on it. And thanks for the kind words about the new-to-you authors. That was always my favorite thing about working in a library - suggesting new books to patrons. :-)

  6. Glad you're doing well and enjoying your reading, but still hope we hear from you every now and then. Have a feeling we'd all be better off with a little less time spent sitting with a computer...

    1. That's what I'm thinking, JoAnn. Like I said, I'm reading lots, but I'm also walking a bunch and just don't feel like sitting down and putting together blog posts right now. I might try to do one every couple of weeks that just lists what I've been reading. We'll see.

  7. I think it's important to blog when *you* feel like it and not feel pressured into doing it when you don't feel like it. I think we all understand where you're coming from and will be pleased to see you when you do appear. I'm around less at the moment too, partly because of harvesting garden produce and partly due to arthriticky soreness in shoulders and arms that make too much typing painful. But I too am reading. I find short 2 or 3 book posts works for me so will be doing more of that in the future. Take care, Kay.

    1. I like your short book reviews. In fact, I'm coming to like them more and more all over. And thanks, Cath. I've been in and out today and responded to the comments here, but I've also been running errands and going for a long walk. It's been a good day as the temperatures here have been wonderful the last few days.

  8. Enjoy your time away. Blogging does get time consuming. I need to step away from the computer more too. Not just blogging but on a whole. Real life awaits!

  9. P.s. I love your Annie Dillard quote up top. I have 2/3 of her books on the shelf to read. I've had a quote of hers about wearing helmets to church because we should expect big things from God on my fridge for years.

    1. Thanks, Peggy Ann. The quote just really describes me and my feelings about reading and books.

  10. Glad to hear things are going well and totally understand the need to take care of other things. My blogging mojo comes and goes too. Enjoy these "cooler" temps we have here and keep on reading. We'll be here when you get a chance to stop in :)

    1. All is well, Diane. I'm just really embracing my 'get up and get going' time. And totally enjoying including reading through audiobooks. What did we ever do before them? LOL

  13. It's such a busy time of year . . . I find myself having a hard time staying on top of my blog this time of year. And I've fallen way behind on my review writing. :-S

Take care of yourself and we'll be here when you do post. :-)

  14. Thanks for checking in, Kay. Glad to know that you are well. I can relate to the loss of blogging mojo. With the approach of my third blogoversary at the end of this week, I have definitely noticed a decline in the number of my posts this year.

    Enjoy your reading time.

  15. For me, the desire to blog comes and goes. When you are ready to return, we will be waiting!

    1. Yep, I think that describes it completely. I suspect that it will return in a few weeks.

  16. Yep, we're definitely in the same boat. There's nothing wrong with stepping back and taking a breather!

  17. I completely get it as you know. I felt that way last week and just didn't blog. Between personal issues and maybe blogging burnout I just don't feel like devoting as much time to it. Either way I'm always glad to see you at my blog when I do post and I love popping by when you do - especially when I can motivate myself to read some blogs. lol. Take care of you first. Blogging will always be there.

  19. You'll be missed Kay but if it isn't working for you then you're right to take a break

  20. Blog when you want to blog, don't blog when you don't -- that's probably the key to blogging happiness right there :) Glad to hear you're continuing to read, take care of yourself, and take a non-stressful approach to blogging. Sounds like you're doing everything right!

  21. Take care of yourself! It's always great to take a break when you don't have the blogging mojo. I've found myself coming back with more energy and interest. And we have other interest / hobbies too - so it's good to be giving them the same amount of time too.

    1. Exactly. I'm in a blogging mojo rut right now, but I also know that I always had renewed interest as a new year came around. Not saying it may take that long, but it might. LOL

  22. I have been feeling a lack of that urge too. Maybe the season? In any case, glad you're still reading along and everything's fine and hope to see you back when/if it feels right.
