How's your summer going? And Litsy...
Just a quick check in to say that I'm still around - still reading books - still reading blogs. Not commenting, but definitely keeping up with things. I will say that I did cut back a bit on the number of blogs that I read. Had to delete some because I just had way, way too many to keep up with. There's only so much time, right? And one would like to have some time to actually read - not just read about reading.
Beth Fish Reads had a great interview today with the guys who started Litsy - an app that I've been hearing about for quite some time. I had considered trying it, but when I cut back on my online presence decided not to join in. Well, Candace convinced me. I joined Litsy and you can find me here - @kaysreadinglife. It's a place to do short little updates, reviews, blurbs and such on books and reading.
I do want to say that I'm planning on being back with posts on this blog by the end of the summer. I've missed it, but we'll be out of town quite a bit in upcoming weeks and I don't like doing posts from my iPad. Look for me to be back with some regularity by the latter part of August or early September.
My life is going pretty well. I did have a bad ear infection a few weeks ago that messed up my inner ear a bunch. Caused vertigo and that was no fun at all. I had a really hard time sitting at my computer without feeling like I was tipping over or getting a bit queasy. It has resolved itself though and for that I am so grateful. You know, I was a kid with motion sickness and am also an adult with a tendency toward it. I don't want to spend my life loopy on Dramamine, but I also hate that slightly nauseous feeling.
I'm currently reading Monday, Monday by Elizabeth Crook for a book group meeting in couple of weeks. It's a reread and I'm enjoying it again. Lots of local color from my part of the world, which is fun. The story is good enough, but I'm really in it for the Austin and Texas stuff. Am listening to The Stranger You Know by Jane Casey - another reread. Loving this series again, but in audio format.
Take care everyone. If you are in the US, enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend. I'll see you in a few weeks!!

Nice to hear you're ok, Kay. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cath! Same to you.
DeleteI am sorry about your ear infection, Kay. I am glad things are going well with you otherwise. I look forward to you getting back into blogging at the end of the summer. I love the idea of Litsy, but unfortunately it isn't available to those of us with Android phones. Maybe one day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great Fourth of July!
Wendy, my understanding is that Litsy is going to expand into Android phones soon. Seems they have big plans for lots of things. :-)
DeleteGood to hear from you Kay and glad things are going pretty well. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️LITSY and have actually considered just doing LITSY and Goodreads for books instead of blogging. I'm horrible at commenting so feel like a bad blogger.
ReplyDeleteStay well
Yes, I can see the appeal of just Litsy and Goodreads (though I'm not on Goodreads). I think my problem is that I end up writing blog posts that are way too long. I need to work on brevity. LOL
DeleteGlad to hear your summer is going well! I can't wait for Litsy to get to Android - I love the sound of it!
ReplyDeleteI think that Litsy will be available for Android soon. Hope it does well and is a success.
DeleteI read Candace's post and decided the same thing! Enjoy your summer, Kay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Belle! Nice to see you around again!
DeleteSo great to hear from you Kay. I'm glad you are still reading and enjoying life. I am taking my 9 year old daughter to see Justin Bieber next weekend, eek, call me crazy :-) I have had some great reads and not so great ones, really an up and down reading year but overall still loving reading, reviewing and networking. My yoga business is doing well and I am so grateful to share the Strala Yoga love. Enjoy your summer.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! The Bieber! Hope he doesn't fall down or whatever he's been doing lately. LOL
DeleteWish I could come go to your yoga class!
I've never heard of Litsy. Is it like Instagram for books? I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHave a great rest-of-the-summer!
I guess, Susan. I'm so out of it and don't know much about Instagram. My daughter's thing. However, I know that it's not available for Android phones yet. Soon.
DeleteBy the way, may I say how very, very, very glad I am that you wrote about the Bell Elkins books by Julia Keller. I've read all of them now, including an ARC of the new one out next month. Loved them so much. That series has become a favorite for sure.
Good to see you are around and coming back soon :) Enjoy the rest of the summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy!
DeleteCandace's post got me on Litsy too and I'm loving it! I've had an Instagram forever but never really used it. I can definitely see using Litsy way more. Glad all is well!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm enjoying Litsy too. It's fun that it's all about books.
DeleteWelcome back at the end of summer.
ReplyDeleteGood to know that you will be back! I will look for you on Litsy. I keep trying to be regular there.
ReplyDeleteLitsy is new to me so I'm checking it more often. I like the fact that it's all about books.
DeleteGood to hear from you, Kay! I miss reading your book reviews and I look forward to your blog posts come August. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better; it's never fun to have ear infections. I'd had vertigo caused by my ear problem a few years ago and I know that feeling. It was terrible.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you take care and welcome back! :)
That vertigo was the worst - hope it doesn't come back.
DeleteNice to hear from you again, Kay! Been awhile, and I miss your reviews in our shared genre. Ouch on the inner ear infection. I'm a travel-sick person, so I can commiserate with your discomfort.
ReplyDeleteI can't do Litsy because I have an android phone but I hear it's a fun app. Enjoy it... but hope you do come back to this blog for us old-schoolers who don't use much social media :)
Litsy will be expanding into android territory soon - or so they say. I can understand not using much social media though. I don't either. ;-)
DeleteSince I had my twitter account hacked in the past and recently had my pc files corrupted beyond repair (stupid me, no back-up) and had to start over... I just am getting paranoid about social media. Enjoy!
DeleteI heard about Litsy at BEA this year and am thinking of joining, so I appreciate your comments.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty fun, Catherine. :-)
DeleteGood to hear you are still reading Kay - I do hope you are enjoying the summer
ReplyDeleteYes, it's hot in my part of the world and very humid, but that's summer. Thank goodness for air conditioning.
DeleteEnjoy your summer! A summer break sounds just about perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle!
DeleteI will be so glad when you are back blogging!!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Nan!
DeleteKay so glad to hear you are enjoying your time off and I'm definitely looking forward to more posts from you after your break! I need to check out Litsy but I'm so behind on all things blog world. I can't catch up after being back from vacation. Anyway stay cool! Or at least maybe read about some cool temps to beat the Central Texas heat! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my word, isn't it hot? Of course, it is July. Think I say this every summer. ;-)
DeleteI am sorta loving on Litsy for the chance to do quick reviews and to see what everyone is reading quickly. I can almost see it causing some people to give up blogging because it's just so much easier.
ReplyDeleteIt is very easy and quick. I'm liking it a lot. Different than blogging, but fun.
DeleteGotta check out Litsy just to see what everyone else is reading at a glance.
ReplyDeleteTake a look. I'm having fun with it.
DeleteHi Kay, So nice to see you and your comment on my blog this week. Keep relaxing and enjoying your blogging vacation.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margot! Will do. I suspect I'll be back on a regular basis after Labor Day. Seems like a good time.
DeleteLitsy sounds absolutely fantastic! I think I would like it a lot *but* it is US only at the moment. {sob}. But I'll be there when I hear it opens up to Canada.
ReplyDeleteIs it really US only? I think some are from Australia. Someone was talking about that the other day really early in the morning my time and doing a shout-out for others. I can't find anything on their website that says only US. You might shoot them an email and ask about Canada. :-)
DeleteMaybe they've gone worldwide since I looked! I found the US only when I tried to sign up. It asked my State and said sorry, US only at that point. I'm off to see if I can join yet!
ReplyDeleteOh, my bad. Was thinking of another site. The reason I can't join Litsy is that it's Apple only! I only have android devices. That's what I'm waiting for! The Android app.
ReplyDeletePatiently awaiting your return, Kay :)
ReplyDeleteWish Litsy was available for android-- only my kids have the iPhones in the family. I have a more second- rate phone because I don't go out much by myself. Maybe there is something comparable for people in the same boat as me. I don't know... for now GR and blog will have to do.
Enjoy your summer!!
