R.I.P. XI

It's time for R.I.P. XI, otherwise known as R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril, Number 11.  And I'm in.  This wonderful challenge has been hosted by Carl at Stainless Steel Droppings for all by one of the years.  The great artwork is courtesy of Hugo Award winning artist, Abigail Larson.

What is this challenge?  Well, it's where we choose to read or watch  or listen to these things:

Mystery
Suspense
Thriller
Dark Fantasy
Gothic
Horror
Supernatural

These are the things that I love to read most of the time and certainly in the fall.  This challenge runs from September 1 until October 31.  The only 'rules' involve 'having fun' and 'sharing your fun with others'.  I think I can do that.  My picture below is very ambitious and, of course, it doesn't include books on my Kindle.  In fact, I think it includes at least one book from my picture for this event last year.  Anyway, this is at least a starting point.  And, did you see the Stephen King TV adaptations?  Yes, I own those and watch them periodically.  I really like all 3 of them and hope to watch again as the days grow short and the nights get darker and spookier!!  To join in, just visit Carl's blog and see what you think!

  1. That's an interesting selection of books, Kay! I have a feeling some of your reviews might have me visiting Amazon. LOL. I think I've seen It, but whereas I love reading horror, I find watching it a little bit much sometimes. I vividly remember being terrified by Salem's Lot... starring David Soul if I remember correctly. Have fun!

    1. I remember that version of 'Salem's Lot. David Soul was very popular at that time. So, I've shown that stack of books. Want to place a bet on whether any of those get read for the challenge? Ha!

  2. I am determined to read some Louise Penny this year. I have managed to get all of her books at the second hand store...

  3. I love Louise Penny and Three Pines! I don't have the newest one yet, but I will get to it soon. Carl always has the best artwork for this challenge, and Abigail Larson's image this year is one of my favorites.

  4. Hard to believe this event has been running strong for 11 years! Time flies, eh?

I'll be curious to hear what you think of The Woman in Cabin 10...

    1. I'll really try to get that one read, Les. I make those stacks and then read none of them. Ha! Have you read Ruth Ware's first book, IN A DARK DARK WOOD? Creepy house in the woods. Like Oregon. LOL

    2. Yes, I read In A Dark, Dark Wood and thought it was pretty good. Better than The Woman in Cabin 10.

  5. Looks like you have plenty to choose from for this challenge. I think this is my 8th or 9th year.

    1. Oh, yes, I always have plenty to choose from. My husband always asks me why I show books that I rarely get read right away. I'm easily distracted by other books. LOL

  6. I'm thinking of joining this challenge. I read mostly mystery and Gothic novels already so it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a list!

    1. You seriously should join. It's fun and like you, I read mostly these types of books. Quite an easy challenge to pursue. And I didn't mention the levels, but reading even 1 book fulfills it. :-)

  7. I see IT in there. I love that book. I didn't love the movie so much but I am hoping the new movie that comes out next year is a lot better. I just love this time of year.

    1. I'm hoping for fun with the new IT movie too. Although, I did like this miniseries well enough.

    1. You wouldn't even have to try, Gayle. You read these kinds of things too.

  9. Nice! I just bought THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10. I'm not patient enough to wait for it at the library! DAISY IN CHAINS was compelling, but I think it's actually my least favorite Sharon Bolton book. It's fast-paced and engrossing, just not as twisty or surprising as Bolton's others. I'll be interested to see what you think of these two and the others on your list.

  10. I do like your book picture - I thought Daisy in Chains wass a fantastic book - one of the best of the year and I really enjoyed Lying in Wait too - some of the others I have on my TBR so we'll see who reads them first ;-)
