I promised if I found another funny thing, I'd share it. I found this made me laugh and nod my head. I got my hair cut this morning and my stylist (who has a single-woman hair studio) had things decorated for the holidays. It was very pretty and cheerful. Plus, she had this 'sign'. Ha! I asked about it and she said it made her think of some of the difficulties of understanding people with their masks on. Very appropriate, right? Yes, the masks do make things a bit garbled now and then. I do back away when people decide that if they need to repeat, they also need to pull the mask below their chin. Um....no. Ha!
As this is now cedar pollen season in our area (I hate cedar pollen and it hates me!), I've had to move my walking regimen back into the rec center. Which is fine as they are very careful with a reservation system and lots of rules. However, I don't get to see the Christmas decorations or wildlife. I decided that with my quest of 'Be of good cheer...', I'd create a holiday music playlist. I've done that and my walking has been very cheerful the last few days. Now my goal is to not forget where I am and start humming or singing under my breath. Ha! I mean, who doesn't want to sing along?
Hope you all have a nice weekend. Our shopping is done. Now to get organized and get all the little treats put in bags and wrapped up in tissue for our 'porch deliveries'. I'll do a post next week giving a peek at what I've found to share with people this year. It's just little things...and maybe some gingerbread cookies...
The sign made me laugh, Kay! I think you should sing along with your playlist while walking :)
ReplyDeleteHa, I was in the wrong email account. That's me above!
ReplyDeleteSo, Mary, you are 'Mary (Bookfan)' and 'Mary Beth' - good to know. Ha! No, I'll likely not sing along with the playlist when I'm at the rec center, but I do when I'm in the car. LOL
DeleteThanks for the funny! :D
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it, Lark!
DeleteThat is funny and so appropriate. We are having such a strange year and I was shocked to find that we are only about two weeks away from Christmas. We never have done a lot of Christmas activities or decorating, but it has been a time when we were off work because our work was associated with educational institutions. Glen will be off work for winter holidays starting in two weeks!
ReplyDeleteHope he enjoys his time off. My husband is taking off the last two weeks of this year too (and he's still not used all his leave time). Ah well - maybe next year will be more conducive to 'time off'. We can only hope.
DeleteThat is a cute sign. :-) I am glad your shopping is done. Enjoy your porch deliveries! We did that for Halloween and had fun with it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember that you guys did Halloween deliveries. We're looking forward to it.
DeleteToo Funny Kay - Glad you finished shopping and can relax now (kinda). I need to bake a few different kids of cookies to share and taste LOL
ReplyDeleteI haven't made holiday treats for a few years now as I was trying not to eat them. However, I'm making an exception this year. The plan is to give almost all of them away to others and then the whole 'trying not to eat them' will be manageable. LOL
DeleteI love the sign! We just bought the best fryer! I figured if I can't get good fries anywhere, I should just make them at home, and they truly are the best. My longtime friend says I always loved them!
ReplyDeleteNan, I do remember that you love good fries. Enjoy your new fryer!
DeleteIt would be lovely if you'd share your playlist as well as your humor....
ReplyDeleteDeb, I'll try to do a post about it this week. Maybe I'll just list the albums that my playlist comes from. :-)
DeleteWishful thinking! Always extra fries. :)
ReplyDeleteI just thought it was funny too. As for fries, I rarely have a them and then just a few - however, good fries are fun!
DeleteI always sing along when music plays - especially Christmas carols - so I would be tempted in the rec center too!
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see what you're doing for your porch deliveries. We always make homemade doughnuts to pass out to friends and neighbors - this year, we've decided to do a drive-through version instead of delivery. We'll see how it goes!
Oh wow! Homemade doughnuts. Yum. I'll try to do a post this week or next with the porch goodie menu. Right now, I'm planning on small loaves of strawberry nut bread, gingerbread cookies, and that candy my husband is going to try to make. Not sure what it's called. That is his project. LOL
DeleteThat sign made me laugh too. My grandmother is very very hard of hearing and refused to wear her hearing aids when it would have made a difference so now there's no real helping her and when my mother took her to the doctor's the other day my mother had to write everything down because communicating was just impossible. I haven't felt very Christmas-y this year but maybe a Christmas playlist would be just what I needed. I may have to make one with some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, I will say that for me, just listening to the words of the songs has been very meaningful this year. I have all sorts of songs - the slower more hymn-like ones and also the peppy ones like Jingle Bell Rock. Hope your Mom and Grandmother also have a nice holiday time.
DeleteI am not done shopping but don't see how it will get done either. I tried to hit Target for something and it was like Black Friday. We are in a strict lockdown but no one is following the order. I am not paranoid about getting it but even I felt vulnerable with all those people around. I am going to try to hit small indie stores for some things but not many of those by me.
ReplyDeleteI colored my hair this morning because last night on Zoom, every gray hair was highlighted by my lighting. My phone died suddenly which forced me to get a new phone and do a manual transfer but that is pretty much taken care of now. I gotta relax. I am on vacation now but all wound up.
Ti, yes, it's hard some days to relax at all. I have good days and bad days. One thing I do when I have to go out is to go as early as possible. I've never been so happy that I'm an early riser. Hope you are having a peaceful weekend.
DeleteThat sign made me laugh! Thanks for sharing, Kay! :D
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Melody!
DeleteI like the idea of porch deliveries, too.
ReplyDeleteWe decided that if Santa can do it (so to speak), we can do it. We'll see how the weather is and if it's nice enough, we'll stand in the yard and visit across the 'gap' with them. Ha!
DeleteThat's a great sign, Kay! I feel the same way as you when people pull down their masks to talk. What don't they understand?!? Argh. I would love to see your playlist, as well. Do you use Spotify? I found a great Christmas list there the other day. It's Cozy Christmas Jazz. It's not too "jazzy" but just a nice change from all of the usual songs.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't have Spotify. I have quite the collection on iTunes - some have been there for years and years. I've enjoyed listening to the variety of songs - old and new.
DeleteLOL, that is funny! Gosh - I'm usually not even a loud speaker so having to talk with the mask on makes me angry. The other day, I was waiting outside the entrance to my doctor's office - they wanted people to call them when we were at the door and they would let us in when they were ready for me. When I called in, we realized that we needed to update my insurance details. And so, while I still had the mask on, I was reading out a string of numbers. I could not understand myself so I don't blame the receptionist either. Eventually, we just decided to show the ID details at the door. Which was definitely better than reading them via phone with your mouth covered.
ReplyDeleteThat sign is so funny. That happened to me today when I went to Central Market and was trying to get some treats from their bakery. The girl had to ask me several times what I wanted! What can we do though right.
