Hello book friends! I have missed all of you and sharing my reading journey, but I also have enjoyed time away. We've been on a couple of vacations (and I'll share about those later this week and next) and I've had a good summer of reading. Mostly rereading books, but I've caught up on a couple of mystery series and attended some book group meetings.
We went to Ruidoso, New Mexico in July and I have some pics of their library and the 'bear' reader statues that welcome patrons to that nice facility. We also went with another couple to Yellowstone National Park in late August and enjoyed that very much. Our first time there. We saw amazing sights and amazing animals. The picture I've shared below is of a 'Little Free Library' that's located outside a cafe/coffee shop in Gardiner, Montana. Gardiner is located just a short bit from the North Entrance to Yellowstone (which is all in Wyoming, by the way). I was delighted to see this little library and so naturally took a picture of it.
As I said, I'll be back later this week with a new 'Waiting on Wednesday' post and also some pictures of the Ruidoso Library. I'll also try to share a bit of what I've read this summer and do a couple of Yellowstone posts. Missed you all. Tried to comment fairly regularly, but I'm back to 'normal' now. What have you been up to? Any 'can't miss' book suggestions?
Yellowstone! I've never been but my Dad told me that was his favorite spot he ever visited in his life. So glad you got to see it! Take care!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by, Kay! I think that Yellowstone is one area that so many would love seeing - just once even. It's really beautiful and the visitor centers are quite interesting with lots of info about the animals and what's beneath the park, etc.
DeleteIt is good to see you back. A visit to Yellowstone National Park sounds great; I have never been there. That Little Free Library is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to more posts from you.
I loved that Little Free Library! Not many books inside, but how nice to find it right on the main street. I would say if you ever get a chance to see Yellowstone to take it. It's very beautiful and the visitor centers are very informative.
DeleteGlad you're back. Look forward to seeing your wildlife pics. Sounds like you had a great summer on your trips. Yellowstone is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan! Yes, Yellowstone is indeed awesome. So much about it that I don't think I had every known or remembered. I don't have a bunch of wildlife pics - a few flowers and vistas. A couple of bear shots where the bear is far, far away (as you would want it to be - ha!).
DeleteWelcome back, Kay! Looking forward to your photos, love the little free library.
ReplyDeleteHey Cath! Thanks for stopping by. I'll share a few photos in the next couple of weeks. Yellowstone is so beautiful and I don't think my pictures can do it justice. So glad we got to visit there.
DeleteWelcome back! Yellowstone is on my list of places to visit. Even from pictures it is stunning so I can't imagine what it looks like in real life.
ReplyDeleteIt really is beautiful, Katherine. So glad we got to go this year. Time of year for visits is pretty important though. Summers are very crowded with people. We planned our time after most schools had started and it was still busy. We got out early though and that helped.
DeleteWelcome back! Sounds like you've had a great summer, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your trips.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I'm glad to be back and glad to have a bit to share. :-)
DeleteWelcome back, Kay! I'm glad to hear you had a great summer of traveling and rereading! Looking forward to your pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela! Yes, nice summer and now looking forward to fall and maybe some 'spooky' reading.
DeleteWhat a neat little library! I like the natural look. It sounds like you had a nice summer, Kay. I can't wait to hear about your trips. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a natural look. 'Little Free Library' is carved into the top part, but this is also a seriously cold winter area. I imagine that affects it. Wonder if they have it open in that part of the year. Curious.
DeleteHooray! Welcome back. Can't wait to see your vacation posts. Isn't Yellowstone wonderful? I wish we had more time there last fall, but the Tetons were calling!
ReplyDeleteYes, Yellowstone was wonderful. We did have a good time. We did visit the Tetons on one day, but spent our time going round Yellowstone. There is a lot to see and lots of people trying to see all the things. :-)
DeleteYay for new adventures! Love the LFL! Gage has spent a lot of time in New England, the East Coast, and Canada, but we're finally getting him as far west as Denver in October. He'll turn 15 while we're there!
ReplyDeleteOh, Stacy - I can't believe that Gage will be 15! Wow! These kids will insist on growing up, right? Remember when he was so little. Hope you guys have a great trip to Denver. Beautiful mountain vistas there.
DeleteGlad to see you back, Kay. You were missed!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, JoAnn!
DeleteI'm so glad you're back, Kay, and that you had a great summer of reading and exploring!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Susan! I'm glad to be back too. :-)
DeleteHi I found your blog right as you left for the summer. look forward to your upcoming book recommendations. Also, I went to Yellowstone one time as a child, with the family and stayed in the camper. We still talk about that experience.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! Thanks for stopping by. I will have more book recommendations soon and will share a bit about the Yellowstone trip as well. Yellowstone is quite memorable, isn't it?
