A good week with things accomplished....and some reading-ish...

Hello book friends!  Hope you have all had a nice week with whatever you've been doing.  Some good reading at least I hope.  Thanks for all the kind words shared and also some 'comfort read' suggestions regarding my last post.  Things are progressing with the upcoming move for my husband's mother and step-dad.  And that's a good thing.  It will still take a while, but progress is progress, right?

My reading has been OK-ish and I plan to share more about the books I've finished and some thoughts on them maybe next week.  I'm planning on attending my mystery book group meeting tonight and then attending the afternoon book group that I'm part of next Tuesday.  I liked both books that will be discussed, but had a few issues with each of them.  I'm looking forward to hearing what other members of the groups thought.  I'm now doing a read/listen of the afternoon book group's selection for June and then I plan to dive headfirst into 'comfort reads' for most of the summer.  Yay!

I wanted to share a pretty picture and so I chose the one above.  Very spring-y, right?  It was one I took at a chalk festival that I attended a few years ago.  I am very much not a creative person and was always amazed at what the participants (so very gifted!) could create with a sidewalk and some chalk.  Wow!  Sadly, that chalk festival was discontinued a couple of years ago, but I have some great pictures from my times attending.

I'm trying to keep up my walking and hope to go back to the yoga class that I went to last year and before.  Also trying to think of other pursuits that brought me joy and relaxation.  Take care all of you and if you have any 'relaxing' suggestions, let me know.  We'll talk next week.

  1. Sounds like things are moving along well with your in-laws move. It's not easy (i know) but it usually turns out to be much better. My folks were against it -- but then many months later liked the place a lot.
And the photo of the butterflies is so pretty! take care Kay.

    1. Susan, I think they are both getting more excited about the move. Hope all goes well and I suspect they will enjoy making new friends and having new activities to join in.

  2. I'm so glad the move is going well, Kay. This sort of thing is never easy. Any progress made is good, yes. Such a pretty photo! Peter and I saw butterflies like that in Tennessee. I do miss the USA and wish it was easier to get there, 6 hour flights put me off these days. My weeks at the moment involve seed planting and I've just put tomato plants into the greenhouse. Summer gardening has commenced, not quite on the scale Peter used to indulge in but it's enough for me. Take care of yourself, my dear friend.

  3. That chalk art drawing is amazing. Doing art always relaxes me...and I'm not even an Artist. I just like the act of creating something. It doesn't have to be good even. ;D Building puzzles and listening to favorite music and yoga are my other favorite ways to relax. :D

  4. That's chalk?? I'm impressed. Disney World has a Festival of the Arts in early spring that involves chalk art and it was so fun to look at all the beautiful drawings! Glad your week is going okayish though hopefully things will ease up a bit soon. I hope you share what comfort books you've picked up or what books you've been drawn to when things calm down a bit!

    1. Katherine, it is indeed chalk. Beautiful, right? I'm diving into my comfort books now. Have just started a reread of a Nora Roberts trilogy - Three Sister Island - witches and magic!

  5. Glad things are moving along with your in-laws move. Oh, that chalk art is stunning. One of my Nebraska friends is very talented and she used to do chalk art down in Kansas City. Truly amazing artwork! Hmmm, I think reading, walking, puzzling, and playing Mah Jong are my favorite ways to relax. Oh, and camping in the RV, which is exactly what I'm doing right now! We're in Nehalem Bay State Park (just south of Manzanita) and it's supposed to rain all day. Guess I'll just have to spend the day reading! :)

    1. Les, how fun that you knew someone who did chalk drawing! I was just so intrigued and also amazed at what people could create with some chalk and a sidewalk. Hope you guys have such a fun time on your trip. Sounds like you already are.

  6. Amazing art, Kay. Thanks for sharing! The sun is up so early these days that I love an early walk (before 6am). The birdsong is so nice. I hope things continue to go well for your inlaws' move.
