This is a weekly event that highlights a book that we can't wait to be published. It's hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Ah, this week's author is one that I really, really like - Sharon Bolton or, as she was formerly known, S. J. Bolton. She writes the DC Lacey Flint series and has also written several stand alone books. There are occasionally characters that have appeared in one book that show up again in other books. I enjoy that part. I've not read all this author's books, but most of them. Haven't found one yet that I didn't like a lot. The book I'm highlighting this week is not a Lacey Flint book, but is set in The Falkland Islands. And here it is:
by Sharon Bolton
Publication Date: May 19th
In such a small community as the Falkland Islands, a missing child is unheard of. In such a dangerous landscape it can only be a terrible tragedy, surely...
When another child goes missing, and then a third, it’s no longer possible to believe that their deaths were accidental, and the villagers must admit that there is a murderer among them. Even Catrin Quinn, a damaged woman living a reclusive life after the accidental deaths of her own two sons a few years ago, gets involved in the searches and the speculation.
And suddenly, in this wild and beautiful place that generations have called home, no one feels safe and the hysteria begins to rise.
But three islanders—Catrin, her childhood best friend, Rachel, and her ex-lover Callum—are hiding terrible secrets. And they have two things in common: all three of them are grieving, and none of them trust anyone, not even themselves.
All her books are a must-buy to me. Can't wait to get hold of this one!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you.
DeleteI don't know if this is a book for me, but I hope you get to read it soon. Thanks for sharing, and happy Wednesday! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Thanks for stopping by, Petra!
DeleteThis one sounds gripping. I would definitely pick this one up. New author to me so I'll go look for some of her other works.
ReplyDeleteMy WoW this week
She definitely falls in the crime fiction category, Marsha.
DeleteOoh, hadn't spotted this one! Thanks for the heads-up - I love her books!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in why she set this on in the Falkland Islands.
DeleteSmall towns, questionable adults, and missing persons cases? Oh man, my to-be-read list is already filled the brim, but I really think I'm going to have to add this one to the list too - sounds so interesting!
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to add to someone's TBR list. LOL
DeleteSounds suspenseful--but then it IS a Bolton novel. Adding it to my list, too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read her before. This book sounds great! Adding to my wish list...
ReplyDeleteI read the first Lacey Flint book a while ago and enjoyed it, but I'm actually finding her standalones even better. I am definitely going to have to get this one!
ReplyDeleteBelle, I saw that you read the first of her books recently, SACRIFICE. I need to read that one.
DeleteI'm looking forward to this one as well Kay --enjoy
ReplyDeleteHope it's a good one, Diane!
DeleteGreat choice! I've not heard of this one but I hope you enjoy it when it comes out! :)
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks Krystianna!
DeleteI really can't wait to get my hands on this book, I love the Lacey Flint series anyway but this storyline sounds superb.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound good, doesn't it? As I think I mentioned in a comment above, I'm curious what led her to write a book set in the Falklands.
DeleteI'm a fan of her books and will definitely add this to my TBR list. Of course I've fallen a bit behind on the Lacey Flint series but I'll get to this one eventually!
ReplyDeleteI have not read the latest Lacey book yet, but I will soon.
DeleteI've only read one book by this author. It was Awakening, a Clara Benning mystery. I liked it, but didn't love it. I have a copy of Blood Harvest in my stacks that my mom sent to me over 3 years ago. I need to get over to Fantastic Fiction and print out a list of Bolton's books so I can read them in the proper order.
ReplyDeleteLes, the ones before the first Lacey book are not connected. However, there are some characters that appear again in the Lacey books, if that makes sense. I need to read those earlier books.
