Sigh....I'm thinking...and taking a break...

Yes, another break.  So, I got my  blood test results back and they were not all that I had hoped.  I've improved in some areas and not in others.  I've worked hard, but I think my focus is going to have to be on some other things for a bit.  More doctor appointments and more tests.  Honestly, I'm not feeling all that well and I need to get to the bottom of why.  And also get some help in improving things.  I have lost over 20 pounds.  I am eating much better.  I am walking regularly.  I am about to start some strength training again soon.  But I need to quit spending so much time staring at my computer and sitting at my desk.

Here's my plan - I've got my September Bookish Nostalgia post for Tuesday of next week.  At that time, I'm going to take the rest of September off.  And think.  And make some decisions about my blog and the time I spend here and reading other blogs.  I suspect that you will see fewer posts and I also suspect that I'm going to need to cut back on reading and commenting on other blogs.

My reading has been off anyway in the last few weeks.  Can't seem to settle very well to a book.  When that happens to me, it's usually time for me to change it up.  Read something totally different or even not read much at all (I know - horrors!).

So, what do you think?  Will you stick around if I go off on another tangent for a bit?  If not, I understand.  Have a great September!  It's my favorite month.  I'll see you in October.  And I'll leave you with one of my most-loved songs from my youth.

  4. Kay,
We have more in common than just our name, I also love this song!
Please, take great care of yourself and if it means spending time away from the computer, then that is what you should do!
    See You In October!
    Love,
    KAY

  5. Of course I'll "stick around"! You need to do what's best for you, so take all the time you need. However, as soon as you can, come back! :)

Remember, everything in moderation. Life can't be just about one thing or the other. It's a very delicate balancing act. (I work at it every day!)

    1. It was good. The main character is a bit dark and has a lot of issues in her past. Pretty graphic violence, but it is a first book in series. I'll be reading the second when it comes out.

    2. I thought it was "good" too. I have Pop Goes the Weasel waiting for me!

  7. I'll be here. I will miss your posts, but I do love that you are thinking and planning changes to help you feel better. Most of us spend too much time on the computer or reading--a kind of virtual life. I hope that you find out why you aren't feeling as well as you should!

  8. It sounds like you are doing all the "right" things. Congrats on losing weight, eating right and getting exercise. I hope your doctor can figure out what the problem is! I'll miss all your book reviews, but I understand the need to step away from the computer. I'm on mine less than ever before! While I haven't decided to give up my blog entirely, I sure am taking a record-long break!

Be well, dear, dear friend. We'll be in touch.

    xoxo

  10. I will definitely 'stick around.' Blogging (by which I mean writing and reading) is an intensive occupation. Ever since my grandchildren have arrived, I have simply not had the time or emotion to write nearly as much as I've wanted to, and I miss it. I will miss your postings, and will eagerly await more. I know how easily time can go by when I read people's writings. I'll look up and it is two hours later. But still, it does me good. Reading people's blogs is an oasis in the busy, post-a-minute world of Facebook, or the news. I often settle in and say a silent 'ah.' I hope you can find a balance that works for you. Maybe a half hour of exercise can give you 10 minutes of blogging as a reward. Please do be in touch and know you are deeply cared for, dear Kay.

  11. Since you're one of my favorite book bloggers, I will miss you terribly if you take a break. However, I totally understand needing to focus on other things. Your health is especially important! So, do what you need to do. I'll be here, no matter what :)

  12. I'm trying to comment and keep losing my message probably on my end.

Anyway, good luck, feel better, and hope you do come back in some form or another. Most of your titles I've read, or want to! :)

  13. Take care of yourself. I agree that blogging can be intensive, and I have cut back a bit because of so much work and stress (and I am at retirement age). I admire all you are doing to get healthier.

  14. I'm so sorry to hear you've been not feeling well and that all is not as it should be. Taking September off to get back on track and feel better definitely sounds needed. Hoping once you're feeling better your reading will improve. See you soon friend and have a good break!

  16. :( Here's a song that comes to mind: "Kind of a Drag". That 's what I am thinking for you. This getting older thing stinks. I will keep an eye out for your return. (please don't drop from book club!). I already have a couple of your recommendations from your posts this summer on my Nook. We all need breaks from things every so often. So go ahead, get focused and healthy!

  26. I am able to read while walking on a treadmill. You may try that so you can get the best of both worlds. Some people cannot do it, I had to work up to 20-30 minutes. Because it can be a little weird walking and reading.

  27. So sorry that health has been bothering. I think you should do everything you can and want to do without worrying about us. We will be here when you get back. Hope things improve soon! Definitely take a break - it will help a lot! HUGS!!

  28. I say blog when you can just don't go away completely!
I know how it is when health takes precedent and I hope you and your doctors can get to the bottom of things. You may want to take a look at the book I reviewed https://stacybuckeye.wordpress.com/2015/08/25/the-hidden-connectiondiscover-whats-keeping-you-from-feeling-happy-healthy-and-symptom-free-by-kathleen-dichiara/ I think it is a great book for anyone with persistent or chronic health problems.
    Take care of yourself!

  30. I'm so sorry to hear you're not doing well Kay, Doctors, tests, it's an exhausting path but I hope you get some answers. I'm finally getting around to commenting after a few weeks off with my health issues, so I understand. You need to look after yourself, your blog will wait ... very patiently I found lol
