And it's fall...

Hello everyone!  Can you believe that it's already September?  Amazing!  This year seems to have flown by.  Hope you are all well.  I have been reading blogs, but know my commenting has been nonexistent.  I'm still trying to decide about blogging.  Should I or not....and I continue to be on the fence about it.  I need to figure out a way not to be 'overly scheduled', but instead be spontaneous.  Sadly, spontaneity is not something I was gifted with.  Sigh.

We've spent some time this summer in New Mexico and I'll share some pictures below from our vacation there.  We'll be returning for another week later this fall.  The climate is cool and lovely in those mountains and it's just about perfect for me.  I took most of the pictures on long walks.

So, what's the 'non plan' here?  Well, we shall see.  Maybe a couple of weekly check-ins and maybe some 'themed' posts like 'Bookish Nostalgia' and Diane's Tuesday First Chapter event.  I'll likely also participate in R.I.P. XI.  Look for a post about that later next week.  Still deciding about 'Waiting On Wednesday', though that does let me highlight some upcoming books that I'm looking for.

I feel like the 'formal' reviews may be in my past.  I suspect that Litsy has spoiled me for that.  I'm thinking perhaps a weekly or every other week post updating my reading, my life, my TV watching, etc., with little blurbs about whatever strikes me.  I enjoy reading those that others write and so that's what I'll do.

Hey, if you are still here...I do appreciate it.  I've had fun on Litsy this summer.  Know it's not for everyone, but I also know that they are close to being available for Android (in beta testing).  Just FYI.  If you are in the US, have a good Labor Day weekend.  The end of summer, yes?  Talk to you soon!

  1. Lovely photos, Kay! I'd say be as casual as you like with blogging, post when you feel like it. I've had a busy summer so I haven't been able to blog much either. Now that all my visitors have gone home I can get back to reading but I'll continue to blog when the mood strikes me. I have aches and pains in my neck and shoulders so it can be hard work. Good luck with RIP... I shall try to get a post up soon. So nice to see you around again.

  2. Your plan is pretty much how I blog. I don't have a million readers, but I do love my blog. Blogging should be stress-free. Just writing about what is on your mind and in your heart. There are no 'shoulds.' If you write once a week, I'll read it. If you write once a month, I'll be there. As Mister Rogers used to say, "it's you i like," and I'm happy, happy to hear about anything you want to talk about.

    1. Thank you, Miss Nan. Stress-free is a good mantra. :-)

  3. Kay, in many ways I feel like I could have written this same post. I have blogging burnout after 8 years but, LOVE LITSY and its simplicity. I plan to keep blogging until the end of the year and reassess for 2017.

Loved your vacation pics . I've been to Albuquerque and Santa Fe about 5 times. Balloon Fiesta is amazing.

    1. I hear you Diane. Good luck with your reassessment. Yes, we go to Ruidoso in the southern part of NM, but I've seen pictures of that Balloon Fiesta. Truly beautiful.

  4. I agree with Nan. Stress-free blogging is more important than sticking to a formal schedule of posts. I'm so glad you're back, even if it's just to share a photo or commentary about what you're reading these days.

I'm looking forward to an Android version of Litsy. I think it may help me gather my thoughts about the books I'm reading and either help me compose my reviews or be a substitute altogether.

BTW, great photos! Love the one with the rainbow. :)

    1. I think you would like it, Les. It's quick and I like the fact that you can 'like' a post and not have to comment or just pass it by or comment. Thanks about the pictures. I actually had a couple of a double rainbow, but didn't like other aspects so shared that one.

    1. Thanks Jenclair! You guys OK over there - not flooded or anything? Sorry I haven't asked up to this point. :-(

  7. There is definitely no point in blogging if it gets stressful. A full time job is all I can afford to be stressed about. Cutting back on blogging when needed has worked for me. I will be doing R.I.P. XI, just because it is fun for this time of year.

    1. I agree. It is fun to do R.I.P XI and it's what I'll be reading anyway, so it's a win all around.

  9. Beautiful photos, Kay. It sounds like you had a wonderful time in New Mexico. I hope you enjoy your visit there again later this month.

It was good to hear from you again. :-) I say do what feels right for you, blogging wise. I'd miss you if you stopped blogging altogether, but I would also understand.

    1. Thanks Wendy. I go back and forth with what to do, but I think that just being 'chilled' about it and not feeling like everything has to be done on schedule will help. We'll see how it goes. :-)

  10. I will never be the world's most committed blogger. I decided when I started eight years ago that I would post once a week, so if I do that I'm happy.

  11. I'll be happy to see your posts no matter what, Kay. I post once every week and though there're times I wish I could post more, I think it work fine with me as I don't want to overstress myself. ;) Plus, I don't read as quickly as others so it's perfectly fine with me too.

Looks like you'd a wonderful time in New Mexico! Thanks for sharing the pics!

  12. Litsy's so fun! I'm glad you introduced me to it. I love hanging out there.

  13. Kay so good to see a blog post from you and I do hope you won't give up completely on blogging. I know how time consuming it is but I love reading about your adventures in reading. I hope you can find some balance so it doesn't feel like a chore and you still enjoy it. I've only been to Taos and Santa Fe and loved them both. Such beautiful places.

    1. Yes, we go to the southern part of New Mexico, but the northern part is lovely as well. I think I'm going to have a more relaxed attitude about things in upcoming days - blogwise I mean. LOL

  14. Litsy is wonderful... and it's changing the way I think about my blogging, too. After stepping away for a few weeks to help my parents, it's very hard to jump back in. I like the stress-free approach and am also getting away from full-length reviews. We'll see where this takes us :)

    1. I hear you, JoAnn. Maybe we should just put a character limit on our posts for the blogs. LOL

  15. Love the photos. Not familiar with Litsy but a lot of bloggers seem to be cutting back on formal reviews. They are a lot of work for sure. I do hope you keep the blog though even if you only pop in now and then.

This past weekend, it felt like fall was around the corner but Mother Nature lied. So Cal is back to almost 90 degree temps and I am cranky over it.

    1. Thanks, Ti! Yes, we're supposed to be getting a 'cold' front next week. It might drop it down to 85. Could be worse though. LOL

Litsy is like Instagram for Books. Not available for Android yet, but they are working on it. I use it on my phone and my iPad. You might like it if you have that kind of phone.
