A great spring trip...back next week with details!!

Hello everyone!  Yes, I'll be back next week with details of a great trip I recently took.  Lots to share.  Here's a taste of where I ventured...(hint - east of where I usually wander about).

I've been to the Malice Domestic 29 Convention - fans and authors and the Agatha's (mystery awards) held in Bethesda, Maryland.  I've been to Boston.  I've visited a dear, dear friend in New Hampshire - Nan at Letters from a Hill Farm!  And then I returned to Texas with not only a respiratory crud thing (travelling is a 'petri dish' of germs), but have a tooth problem and our refrigerator 'died' while we were gone (a yucky mess!).  Plus, our air travel home was fraught with problems.  Sigh.  I'm still managing those issues.

Hope to have several upcoming posts about the mystery convention (it was great!), but also a look at where I ventured in Boston.  The picture is 'Make Way For Ducklings' at the Boston Public Garden.    I'll tell a bit about our New Hampshire visit (too short).  We'll see what I can come up with.

I'll leave you with a picture of what's been trekking or rather 'slithering' across my front yard (can you see the snake skin?).  Yes, it's from a rattlesnake.  Yay for Texas in spring!  Ha!  See you soon!

  1. Looking forward to the post. We had a black snake take a sun bath on our back deck.

    1. Oh, I'd hate that. Don't think the snakes have come up on our back porch, but you never know.

    1. I had such a good time. I plan to have convention posts all next week - like I did last year with Left Coast Crime. They will be long, but informative.

    1. No worries. The refrigerator issue is the most annoying I think. Happily, we have a small fridge on our back porch. It holds only a few things, but just enough to manage with for a while.

  4. Wow! What a fun trip! I visited Boston for the first time last year and loved it. How awesome that you were able to meet up with a fellow blogger too. Next time you should come to Cleveland...:) Hope you ae feeling better soon.

    1. You never know, Stacy. I've met Nan once before - in 1999 - face-to-face. She came to Texas. Decided if we were in Boston, New Hampshire was way to close not to take advantage of the proximity. We both loved it.

  5. Wow! Malice Domestic! Can't wait to hear more about htat. Sounds like an amazing trip! I can't imagine the horror of coming home to a dead refrigerator. What timing! Hope you're feeling better and that you and your belongings are home safe and sound!

    1. I thought about you when I was there. You would have loved it. I don't read as many cozies/traditional mysteries as I used to, but I saw several authors that are older now, but I read their books long ago. It was quite an honor to meet them and tell them how much I've loved their books. We shan't speak of the awful fridge incident. Ha!

  7. Too short, indeed! I'm hanging onto H's words about that Scottish fellow who designed golf courses.

  9. Why is it that fridges always choose to die when we're away from home? One of life's great mysteries! But I'm glad you had a good trip otherwise, and hope you get over your respiratory thing soon.

    1. I can't answer that one. Actually, first time this has happened to me. Happily, I am a rather 'picky' person regarding clearing out the fridge before we travel. It wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

    1. Nan's post will be tomorrow. And then Boston. Next week will be the mystery conference. Those take a bit longer to compose. :-)

  12. Glad you'll be back soon. What a great trip you had! I love Boston and New Hampshire, and what fun connecting with a book blog friend :)

My son's taking the Bar Exam in Maryland this summer in prep for moving to greater DC area for work sometime this year. And we're finally retiring-- to the Carolina coast-- this summer too. Our lives are finally falling into place so I felt in the right mindset to return to blogging.

    Can't wait to bookchat soon!
