I'm posting a 'soon to be released' book on Wednesdays. These will always be books that I am particularly looking forward to. I'll be linking up to 'Can't-Wait Wednesday' hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings and plan to take part in this each week.
A while back I read (or rather read/listened to) the 8 books that made up the Simon Serrailler mystery series. I really liked most of the stories and thought that there might not be any more. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that there will indeed be a 9th book. It won't be published until the fall, but still...I'm so excited. This week I'm waiting on:
by Susan Hill
Publication Date: November 20th
His last case put Simon Serrailler in mortal danger and left him confronting a new reality. Recovering on the remote Scottish island of Taransay, his peace doesn't last long. He must take on a murder inquiry for the local police who are struggling to deal with a massive terrorist incident.
It's good to be back on the job. When Simon returns to Lafferton, an arsonist is on the rampage and a woman whose daughter disappeared some years before is haunting the police station seeking closure. She will not let it rest, and Simon is called in to do a cold-case review.
At home, Simon is starting to get used to having a new brother-in-law - in the form of his Chief Constable Kieron Bright. His sister Cat has embarked on a new way of practicing medicine, and his nephew Sam is trying to work out what to do with his life. Their tricky father, Richard, is living in France with a new companion. But things change, as always, and in a way which does not make Cat's chief constable husband very happy.
I've been in a bit of a mystery/suspense mood lately and these sound interesting. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have continued this meme!
DeleteOoh, a new Simon Serrailler book! I'm eagerly awaiting this one now. :)
ReplyDeleteI know! I thought she was finished.
DeleteI hadn't heard of this series before, but it sounds good. I'll have to pick up the first book in the series next time I'm at the library.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good series, Susan. You might look back at my reviews for 2015. Think that's when I started reading it or rather, listening to it.
DeleteThis series is new to me, but I do love a good mystery. Hope you enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela! I think I will.
DeleteI'm not familiar with this series so thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barb!
DeleteMatching your comment on my blog this is one of those series I really enjoyed but has fallen a little by the wayside in recent years - one day...
ReplyDeleteYep, that's what I say about a bunch of them.
DeleteI havne't heard of this series before, but I love a good mystery so I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good series. Not a thriller type thing, but solid books in the police procedural vein.
DeleteSusan Hill is on my must-try author list. I've even purchased one of her novels last year, but sadly haven't gotten to it yet.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Wednesday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2018/04/cant-wait-wednesday.html
I've only read this series. Know she has other books I'd like to try.
DeleteThis certainly sounds like a great series! Hope you get a chance to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenea!
DeleteI've enjoyed several of Hill's books but this series I sort of gave up on, mainly the main character got a bit on my nerves, but I don't know. I'm tempted to go back to it as I really do like her writing style.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean, Iliana. There were some books that I think the author had an agenda for certain issues.
DeleteThe good thing about the possibility of starting this series is that it will be the fall before the new book comes out. At least I could get a few books in the series read. It sounds like everyone likes the writing. I'm going to check my library. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI bet your library has some of the books at least, Margot.
DeleteI adore Susan Hill (most notably The Woman in Black which I happened to see in a London West End theater). Why don't I read more of her?! Thank you for the reminder!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet read The Woman in Black, but it's on my list, Molly.
DeleteI haven't read any Susan Hill, so this sounds really good -- particularly the Scotland setting.
ReplyDeleteI love books set in Scotland!
DeleteI hope this turns out as good as expected!
ReplyDeleteI do too!
DeleteI haven't read anything by this author, but the series sounds interesting. Hope you enjoy the new entry!
ReplyDeleteI suspect I shall, Laura.
DeleteAnother great series that I need to make time for!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a good one. Very much looking forward to this one. It might be the last in the series.
