I'm posting a 'soon to be released' book on Wednesdays. These will always be books that I am particularly looking forward to. I'll be linking up to 'Can't-Wait Wednesday' hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings and plan to take part in this each week.
I love this author's books - love them. Of course, I have my favorites, but so far, I've not been disappointed in any of them. The new one coming out will be a little different. It's the first one not part of her ongoing loosely-connected series. Yes, I'm excited to see what Tana French can do with a standalone! This week I'm waiting on:
by Tana French
Publication Date: October 9th
Toby is a happy-go-lucky charmer who's dodged a scrape at work and is celebrating with friends when the night takes a turn that will change his life - he surprises two burglars who beat him and leave him for dead. Struggling to recover from his injuries, beginning to understand that he might never be the same man again, he takes refuge at his family's ancestral home to care for his dying Uncle Hugo. Then a skull is found in the trunk of an elm tree in the garden - and as detectives close in, Toby is forced to face the possibility that his past may not be what he has always believed.
A spellbinding standalone from one of the best suspense writers working today, The Witch Elm asks what we become, and what we're capable of, when we no longer know who we are.
I'm so excited that Tana French will have a new book out soon. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm so there!
DeleteWow. I've been meaning to try Tana French for a while. This one sounds chilling.
ReplyDeleteOh, you should try her books and this would be a good start since it's a standalone. However, her other books are only loosely connected and can be read out of order.
DeleteI still haven't read TF. Perhaps a stand alone is a good one to try. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteI suspect I will like it, Mary. She might be a little hard edged for you, but one never knows.
DeleteI'm behind on Tana French's series, but that doesn't matter if this is a standalone! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell, her series is only loosely connected, so I wouldn't worry about being behind. But, yes, it's fun that she's trying something different.
DeleteYes! I've requested this one, but haven't heard whether NG will let me have it. If not, a purchase is in order!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I agree completely. Hope they approve you, Jenclair!
DeleteWow, this sounds riveting. I love a good suspense/thriller book. Great pick. I have to add this to my TBR!
ReplyDeleteMary my CWW!
This is a fine author if you like crime novels. She's very talented.
DeleteI haven't read anything by this author yet. This one sounds like it might be a good place to start since it's a standalone. I'll have to add it to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I agree a good place to start. Tana French is such a good writer - in my opinion anyway.
DeleteAlready on my wishlist :) Anything by Tana French is enjoyable to me. Glad you like reading her books also!
ReplyDeleteI bet it is on your list, Rita. I know we've shared our love for her books.
DeleteThis one is already on my TBR too and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to read the 2nd in her Dublin Murder Squad next month but this stand alone one really tempts me. Can't wait to see your thoughts on it!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you like THE LIKENESS - I did. You know that each book has a character from the previous book as more of a protagonist. That second book is Cassie's book.
DeleteI think this will be the first Tana French book I read. It's already on my wishlist and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI think there are a bunch of us waiting for it, right? LOL
DeleteI haven't read anything by Tana French yet, I may have to change that!
ReplyDeleteShe's a good writer, Angela. And very popular among crime novel readers.
DeleteI love Tana French! I'm really looking forward to this one!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us are excited about it!
DeleteI'm waiting for this one too!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel like this one will be very interesting.
DeleteOther than the ending, I enjoyed this one. Not as much as her others, but I liked it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...other than the ending. Well, guess I'll have to see how it goes, right?
DeleteOooh, a stand-alone?! I may have to give it a read. I loved her earlier books (The Likeness and Faithful Place are my faves), but I was really disappointed in The Secret Place and didn't even read The Trespasser. Maybe I'll get it at the library for my hubby and see what he thinks. Keep me posted!
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember that you weren't pleased with The Secret Place. Well, we'll see how this new one goes when it comes out. Maybe a new direction for her.
DeleteRead In the Woods. Behind in this series. But this is a stand alone and looks good. Thanks Kay, didn’t know French had a new book coming out. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to be the one to share the news!
DeleteI think I've mentioned before that I collect this author's books. And yet I've only read one! I loved it, and yet I haven't read more. This one sounds good too.
ReplyDeleteI've read all of her books so I will have my eye out for this one! Can't wait!
