A short update with pictures of my new walking route...

Hello book friends!  I'm going to share a short update here and hope to do a longer one next week with additional pictures from my new 'walking route'.  When I last 'spoke' with everyone here we were planning to leave on a postponed trip to Oregon.  Well, that trip was not to be - at least this year.  My husband had some allergy issues that turned into a sinus problem and we ended up cancelling the Oregon adventure yet again.  Maybe next year, right?  It seemed the prudent thing to do as sinus issues and air travel don't mix well.  We did drive out to New Mexico and our usual destination there, Ruidoso, for a few days.  We then returned and the remaining possessions that we had in storage in Austin were transferred to Kerrville.  We will maintain a 'back and forth' thing for a bit, but as time passes we are beginning to settle in and get some things accomplished.  It's going to be long process though with furniture orders and renovation tasks backlogged.  We are being patient and waiting our turn.  Ha!

I'll have more to say about seeking out new volunteering opportunities and yoga classes and who knows what else.  However, today I'm going to share a few pictures I've taken on my new 'walking route'.  Some lovely trees and some very lovely blooms.  Enjoy!

Oh, reading...well, I'm still having some issues in that area.  We'll see if this mega-slump will improve by fall.  I certainly hope so!

  1. I'm so sorry your Oregon trip got cancelled! that's disappointing. I'd love to take a trip to Oregon next summer and see the puffins...if I can afford it. Those flower photos are amazing. Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. I don't think I've seen puffins in Oregon, but I do love other natural things there. And thanks about the flowers!

    1. Thanks, Vicki! I think I'll next share an assortment of yard decorations that seem to be extremely popular here. Ha!

  3. Always good to hear from you, Kay. The photos from your walking route are beautiful. I have no clue what the bottom three plants are but they are lovely.

    1. Iliana (who commented below) knows more about the plants than me. However, the pink are crepe myrtle and the purple are 'purple sage' (I think).

  5. Too bad Oregon got cancelled, but it's nice you got a trip to New Mexico. I've only been once (to Santa Fe) and absolutely loved it. I hope your husband is feeling better!

    1. He is better and we love that more southern part of New Mexico. We've been to Santa Fe once I think.

  6. Oh no I'm sorry you guys didn't get to go to Oregon but at least you were able to do a shorter getaway to NM. I've never been to Ruidoso but imagine it's very pretty. Glad to hear you're getting settled in Kerrville even if there are delays! Such beautiful lantanas and succulents. Can't wait to hear more about the things you discover in your new home!

    1. Ruidoso is very pretty. The picture I used to have as my header was of the mountains in that area. Now my new header is of the Hill Country here in Kerrville. Yes, the plants here are all pretty familiar (even if I don't know the names).

  7. Oh no too bad your Oregon trip was canceled although with the heat and fires and a sinus condition it was probably for the best. Love the pictures you shared.

    1. Thanks and I agree about the fires, etc. It never got that dreadful heat in the Bandon area - right on the coast and quite cool all the time.

    1. Les, there are live oak trees in this area that just magnificent. So large and expansive. Probably 100+ years old. Yes, next year is in the plans.

  9. I'm sorry to hear about cancelling your trip but definitely sounds like it was for the best. You will get there and it will be amazing! Your walk pictures are beyond beautiful. Love the trees especially. Good luck with getting everything settled and the back and forths!

    1. Thanks, Katherine. Yes, this decision-making and settling seems much harder this time than ever before. Part of it is the fact that you plan something, investigate it, and then find it will be months before it can be accomplished. Ha!

  10. Oh, how disappointing! But you are right, traveling with a sinus condition is just awful... good call. Fingers crossed for next year.

The vistas and color from your new walk are beautiful. We just arrived in CT yesterday and will be here for two months. Tomorrow I'll test a new walk route and will follow your lead and share photos.

    1. JoAnn, hope you guys have a wonderful time in CT. And, yes, share pictures from your walks. I'm planning on sharing a bit more before long. Since I don't have much to share in the way of books completed. Ha!

    1. Yes, the really large ones are live oak trees - native to Texas I think. These are so big that they are likely over 100 years old.

  13. Looks like you have lovely views on your walk! Sorry about the cancelled trip but I know sinus issues can worsen with air travel.

    1. Oh, yes, air travel with sinus stuff is not good. Can make for some awful headaches, etc. Thanks about the walking pictures.

  14. Airline travel has been looking kind of rough from here, even this week. Long long line at the airport and missing flights. So hopefully next year you can go without any hassle. We decided to postpone any travel this summer. Maybe fall. Looks like you have a wonderful new walking route.

  15. So sorry that you had to cancel your trip again but you are right. Sinus trouble is no fun and can quickly turn into something worse so you made the right decision.

I love your walking route. I get a little bored of mine but it seems silly to drive somewhere to walk. Plus, the pup likes her usual haunts.

    1. I understand what you say about driving somewhere to walk. I will say that this new town doesn't have any indoor walking tracks, so I think it will be outside or nothing. More to come as I explore new directions.

    1. We've had a lot of rain this summer in Texas and so the green is certainly here. We'll see if it continues. I bet not. Ha!

Sorry you had to cancel the oregon trip but you are right - that may not have mixed well with sinuses.
