Wishing everyone a very happy and peaceful 2026! I'm going to repeat some thoughts I shared as a New Year's Day post in 2019. My special word for 2026 will again be...PERSEVERE. As in 'never quitting again' - in my life journeys of all types - reading, health, movement, and, most importantly, in my quest to be kind, loving, sensitive, and spiritual.
I love looking at pictures of mountains and love contemplating mountain vistas. In every mountain range, there is up and there is down. There are hard roads that test your strength and there are easier ones where one can coast. Life is like that in many ways. Endurance and perseverance are needed for both the ups and the downs.
So this year, my aim is to PERSEVERE through the good and the not so good and keep my goals in mind for all aspects of my life. And definitely enjoy the journey. Thanks so much for stopping by, for being my dear friends, and may you all have a very Happy New Year!

Happy 2026! So good to read your post. Yes, persevere! What are some of the best things you've read that I need to add to my TBR? I hope all is well with you!
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks so much for stopping by! I did a lot of rereading this year and also caught up on several series that I like. I did like The Women by Kristin Hannah. Made for good book discussion. Loved the new Cormoran Strike book by Robert Galbraith. Yes, things are well with me. Have been busy with a bunch of stuff. Hope to be more regular with all kinds of things in 2026 - persevere! LOL
DeleteHappy New Year, Kay. I hope 2026 is a year filled with meeting goals and enjoying wonderful books.
ReplyDeleteMary @Bookfan
Thanks so much, Mary! I appreciate the books wishes. Look forward to talking books with you in 2026!
DeleteHappy New Year. I hope it will be a good year for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of a word to concentrate on all year, to use as a guide. I will have to think about that. I am interested in being more mindful as I move through my day.
Tracy, thanks so much for stopping by. I haven't done the word thing every year, but I have attempted it in the past. Hope to be able to 'persevere' in 2026. Several goals I'd like to work on and with the health journey - not getting any younger - ha!
DeleteHappy New Year, Kay! I like your word for 2026. Like you, I have several health-related goals this year. I even signed up for an online strength-building class. I'm in for a full year, so that will keep me motivated! :)
ReplyDeleteLes, that strength-building class sounds like a winner. Good luck with it and with your health goals. I think the time has come in my life to get going again with these goals. Not getting any younger - ha!
DeleteHappy New Year Kay! I love your word for the year and your goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katherine! I'm going to work on it, well, on lots of things. :-)
DeleteHappy new year, Kay! Hope 2026 brings you lots of enjoyable reads!
ReplyDeleteHey Catherine! Thanks for stopping by. Have missed your posts. I hope that 2026 provides good reading for you as well. Take care!
DeleteEnjoying the journey is so important! And I love your word for the year. Persevering is a good one. I hope 2026 is full of good things for you and your family. Happy New Year! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lark! I hope your 2026 journey is good too. I loved what you shared about your thoughts for the new year on your blog.
DeleteHappy New Year to you, my dear friend. I love, 'kind, loving, sensitive and spiritual'. I would echo all of those, especially spiritual, becoming more spiritual has really changed my life. I would also add that I would like to be braver this year, as in going out and doing more things, taking more chances, travel more. I don't find that easy but need to try harder.
ReplyDeleteCath, thanks so much for your very sweet words. I do appreciate them. I hope that you can try out new things this year and also get to do some travelling. Hugs!
DeletePersevere is an excellent word. I'm sticking with Love from last year, but I am also keeping Play from the past handy, too.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I think both those words are great. Good luck with them!
DeleteHappy New Year, Kay! Persevere is such a great word... perfect for this season of life.
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, thanks for the nice words. Yes, I think that persevere is what many of us who a little bit older than we used to be (ha!) need to work on in order that we can keep doing what we are doing. Say that sentence fast! LOL
DeleteWishing you a happy new year 🥳
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Shelleyrae! Look forward to talking books with you in 2026!
DeleteHappy New Year and best wishes for 2026!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteThat's a good word to think about. I like the idea of never giving up! No wonder you seem such a positive & kind person. Excellent thoughts for the New Year. thanks.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I appreciate this nice comment. I do try to be kind - certainly what my mother tried to teach me and she was very kind to all. As to the never giving up - have to talk myself into that at times. Getting older is a challenge and if one wants to continue to do certain things, one has to 'never give up' on health journeys. Reading helps my mental attitude - ha!
DeleteHappy new year, Kay! Wishing you a happy, healthy, and successful 2026!
ReplyDeletePersevere, I like it!! Your 100 book goal will be a piece of cake. xx
