Spring Break - Back in a couple of weeks...

I wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to take a break from the blog for at least a couple of weeks - maybe three.  I'm going to be attending the Malice Domestic mystery conference and we've also got some things going on with family and friends.  Seems like a good time to step away for a bit.  Plus, I want to read a bunch.

I'm planning on coming back in mid-May with several days of posts relating my Malice Domestic adventure.  I've done that before and several have said they would like to 'virtually' attend again.  I love sharing my pictures and tales, but I will note that it does take a bit of time to put those posts together.  So, watch for them, probably the week of May 14-18.

One nice thing is that I should have a number of books to talk about, though the reviews may be a few weeks behind the actual date read.  This won't be my only break in upcoming months.  We've got several getaways planned for summer and fall, plus it's nice to just read sometimes.  I'll likely not be commenting much during the break, but I'll be reading your blog posts.

A happy personal note is that my husband is completely finished with his cardiac rehab and is back to a normal work and golf life.  He is doing very well, and he and I both have changed a lot of things about our eating and exercise life.  One day before long I'll post a 'before and after' picture of myself.  I've lost over 80 pounds and I think it's such a positive change for me.  I'm not quite finished, but the health benefits are clear.  I've got a few more wrinkles evident now and have had to buy some new clothes (I know, a terrible thing!), but I'm never quitting this lifestyle again.  My promise to myself.

Take care everyone and I'll see you soon!

  3. Yes, I'm one of the people who loved your Malice Domestic posts and look forward to more but in your own good time. Enjoy your break and all the things you have going on.

Very pleased to hear about your husband. Speaking as someone who's lost 40lbs over the last few years I understand completely where you're coming from re the weight loss. Also it appears my natural face shape is long and thin. Who knew? LOL!

  7. Have fun! Good to hear that you and your husband are healthy and doing well. I struggle with 5 lbs. and am so impressed with the dedication involved in losing weight. I'd much rather need a new wardrobe from losing weight than, sigh, from gaining!

  10. I'm glad you're taking a nice break. It sounds like you'll have both fun and a good rest. I, for one, am looking forward to hearing of your tales from Malice Domestica. I remember well last year's report. Congratulations on your life style changes. Have a happy, restful break.

  11. I am so proud of you, Kay!! 80 pounds is amazing and I know you've worked hard to lose it. I've lost 10 and am much happier with my new lifestyle/clean eating and hope to lose another 10 in the coming months. I still have the occasional treat (In-N-Out burger, wine, etc.) while traveling, but the majority of my meals are healthy. I'm glad your hubby is doing well, too. What a relief! Enjoy your break and we'll see you around here in May (and in person this summer!!). xo

  13. I'm starting with the end of your post - you have done an amazing job that's loads of weight to lose! Glad to hear your hubby is doing so well too. Enjoy your breaks - I have to admit I prefer having a stash of books to review than feeling as if I'm on a treadmill.

  15. You're such an inspiration, Kay! My parents went through this same thing -- Dad had a heart attack a few years ago and both of them have worked super hard since then to eat healthy, exercise, and alleviate unnecessary stress. They are now looking and feeling great! Glad it's the same for you and your husband. Keep up the good work.

Can't wait to hear all about the conference. Have a fabulous time!
