This is a weekly event that highlights a book we can't wait to be published. It is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Every year, I eagerly await the unveiling of the cover and blurb for Louise Penny's new book. This is 'hot off the unveiling' from earlier this week - the book I'm featuring and waiting for is:
by Louise Penny
Publication Date: August 30th
And there he finds four young cadets in the Sûreté academy, and a dead professor. And, with the body, a copy of the old, odd map.
Everywhere Gamache turns, he sees Amelia Choquet, one of the cadets. Tattooed and pierced. Guarded and angry. Amelia is more likely to be found on the other side of a police line-up. And yet she is in the academy. A protégée of the murdered professor.
The focus of the investigation soon turns to Gamache himself and his mysterious relationship with Amelia, and his possible involvement in the crime. The frantic search for answers takes the investigators back to Three Pines and a stained glass window with its own horrific secrets.
For both Amelia Choquet and Armand Gamache, the time has come for a great reckoning.
Woah, this book sure sounds awesome- and a bit... creepy? :D Great pick, Kay! Hope you enjoy this one :))
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WoW here
I'm sure I will when it comes out. I've read all this author's books and love them.
DeleteSounds great, and slightly creepy, yes. :-) I hope you get to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteMy WoW post.
Yes, I love all Louise Penny's books and so look forward to this one.
DeleteLouise Penny! I knew you won't miss this one! ;-) Now I need to read her books quickly; I think I'm still on Book Two.
ReplyDeleteMelody, I definitely won't miss it. And I hope you enjoy further books by her if you get to them.
DeleteI bet a lot of people are waiting for that one!
ReplyDeleteOh, I imagine so, Kathy.
DeleteI have never read a Louise Penny book, but I always think they sound good. Another author to add to my list!
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like them. One day maybe you'll get to them. I know there are just so many that we want to sample and we can't get to them all. LOL
DeleteI am SO waiting on this book too, Kay. I enjoy all of Louise's books. I especially enjoy listening to the audio versions. Great series.
ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to them yet. I keep meaning to do a reread of them on audio. Maybe I should do that between now and August. :-)
DeleteThis is a series I've been meaning to start...so many books, so little time.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Catherine. We'd all like to be able to sample 'all the books'. LOL
DeleteI've only read the first book in the series, but I loved it...and I've been meaning to read more! Love the characters, the setting, and the plots. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteLaurel-Rain, I think you'd really like the rest of this series. Her writing is so beautiful, plus the mysteries.
DeleteLove, love this series!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!
DeleteAmelia sounds like a character I'd love to read about. I don't think there's enough time in a day for me to be taking on a new series though, considering how many books I already have to read. So for now, I'll just have to read your reviews on it. I hope it's as awesome as it sounds!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...does it tempt you know that Louise Penny is Canadian? Just saying...LOL!
DeleteOh you reminded me of a series I need to return to! I read (well, listened to) the first in the series and then got sidetracked, as some of us are wont to do :)
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a bigger fan of reading print than listening to audio, I'll check my library for book #2. I assume these would do best read in order.
Rita, yes, these need to be read in order. She has a really big arc of story that goes over at least the first 10 books or so and really even beyond. Each book has a crime and a solution, but there are things in the background.
DeleteCan't stop coveting the journal in your header photo for Wednesdays. :-) Meaghan @ mwgerard.com
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meaghan! I was trying to think where I bought it and I really can't remember. I haven't actually used it yet. It will be the next one after I finish my current book journal.
DeleteThis sounds like a great book Kay - this is another author I know I'd really enjoy but for some reason (lack of time) haven't got around to reading.
ReplyDeleteCleo, you'd like her books. You really would, but I do understand that time is a problem for all of us.
DeleteI really need to read Louise Penny.
ReplyDeleteYou do - you totally do. LOL
DeleteWhy haven't I started this series yet??? This sounds amazing! I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know but you should, Katherine. I recommend it highly.
DeleteI'm a bit behind on this series so while this one sounds like a great entry in the Gamache series I still need to catch up with the last couple of books. He's such a great character isn't he?
ReplyDeleteHe is a great character and I'm curious as to where she will take him now.
