I'm posting a 'soon to be released' book on Wednesdays. These will always be books that I am particularly looking forward to. I'll be linking up to 'Can't-Wait Wednesday' hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings and plan to take part in this each week.
I am beyond excited about the book I'm featuring this week. I love the Frieda Klein mystery series, written by husband/wife writing team calling themselves Nicci French. Each of the previous books had a day of the week in the title - Monday-Sunday. Many thought that the Sunday book would be the last. No, this 8th book is supposed to be the last and it will conclude the story of Frieda and her nemesis/stalker. This week I can't wait for:
by Nicci French
Publication Date: July 24th
A decade ago, psychologist Frieda Klein was sucked into the orbit of Dean Reeve -- a killer able to impersonate almost anyone, a man who can disappear without a trace, a psychopath obsessed with Frieda herself.
In the years since, Frieda has worked with -- and sometimes against -- the London police in solving their most baffling cases. But now she's in hiding, driven to isolation by Reeve. When a series of murders announces his return, Frieda must emerge from the shadows to confront her nemesis. And it's a showdown she might not survive.
This gripping cat-and-mouse thriller pits one of the most fascinating characters in contemporary fiction against an enemy like none other. Smart, sophisticated, and spellbinding, it's a novel to leave you breathless.
This sounds like a pretty good thriller, and a hopefully good capstone to the series!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that we'll finally know...
DeleteGreat choice and I have this on my wishlist to buy as soon as it is released - I can't wait to see how the authors wrap everything up!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Cleo!
DeleteYou know, I keep seeing this series about, but I haven't yet picked it up. I think it's because it's so far ahead and I don't want to go back to the beginning of the series. But I really do like the sound of this -- is there a book you'd think I could start with that isn't the beginning?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much a 'read the series from the beginning' person, Verushka. It sets the tone and introduces the characters. Maybe read Blue Monday - the first book - and then see what you think.
DeleteI haven't read a book yet by these authors but of course I've always wanted to because of the popularity. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good series.
DeleteI've thoroughly enjoyed the Frieda Klein books. I missed a couple, but have read most of the days in the week and look forward to this latest installment as well!
ReplyDeleteReally interested in how it will close out the story arc.
DeleteI've not read her but I know tons of people love this author and series. I'm sure this one will be just as good as her others as she seems to be a pretty consistent writer. Hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteI suspect I will, Barb.
DeleteI have a hunch that my father REALLY loved this author - and the series looks intriguing - thank you for sharing this one - and taking the time to pop over to my site, Kay. Have a great reading week:)
ReplyDeleteThanks and my pleasure! Hope you father gets to read this one!
DeleteWhen I saw Day of the Dead I got excited thinking this was a zombie book! Hope you enjoy it and thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteHa! I can see why you'd think zombies - but no, just crazy people. LOL
DeleteI am not familiar with this series, but sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing. Hope you'll enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteMy CWW
I think I will. I've loved all the other books in the series. :-)
DeleteWow, a husband/wife writing team, that's pretty amazing. This does sounds really good! I am always on the lookout for a good thriller. Great pick.
ReplyDeleteThis whole series is good - Frieda Klein is a bit different, but likable.
Deleteooh, the final one in a series! Those are always the most waited on. Hope you can get your hands on it soon! Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post at Lisa Loves Literature earlier!
ReplyDeleteYes, we're always sad, but biting our nails in anticipation, right?
DeleteThis series is new to me. I'm trying to read more thrillers, and branch out in my reading.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good one. The first book is called Blue Monday.
DeleteThe final book in a series always leaves me melancholy. I haven't read this author before but she has been on my list for years.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. I like when we know the 'final' answers, but then you won't get to spend time with those characters again. Sigh.
DeleteI am so out of it. I opened your page and the words "cat-and-mouse" and then read about the book and wondered what the cat and mouse had to do with it. LOL I haven't read anything by Nicci French. This series sounds right up my alley though.
ReplyDeleteWendy, you are so funny! I had to go back up and read where it said 'cat and mouse' - couldn't imagine. I think you would like this series. If you get a chance to read it sometime.
DeleteEek! I just finished Blue Monday by this author and absolutely loved it! I really need to catch up with this series! I'm bummed to hear that this will be the last one - I hope they continue with other books or a new series afterwards!
ReplyDeleteThey wrote standalone books prior to this series. I haven't read them, but I suspect there will be other books by them and maybe even another series.
DeleteThis sounds great! I'm gonna have to check this series out! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know. The first book is Blue Monday.
DeleteI don't think I knew this was a husband and wife team. It definitely sounds interesting. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good series and I've liked how they handled Frieda and her friends.
DeleteI read one Nicci French book and really loved it. I loved Frieda Klein and am really looking forward to continuing the series.
ReplyDeleteI've certainly enjoyed it. Sorry it will be at an end, but maybe they will begin a new one.
DeleteWhoa! This books sounds so interesting and I am really intrigued by that synopsis. This will be one that I am going to have to keep an eye out for. Thanks for sharing it. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to have suggested a new one to you!
DeleteClassic cat and mouse thrillers are always great. I like that this is a long standing nemesis, and now you get the conclusion! I hope it's satisfying.
ReplyDeleteOh, believe me, the nemesis is crazy weird. I'll be glad to see how her 'battle' with him sorts itself out.
DeleteThis sounds great. I do love a good cat and mouse thriller. I've been enjoying Meg Gardiner's UNSUB series for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm wanting to read Unsub! Meg Gardiner lives in my area and has done some events around here. Sadly, I wasn't able to attend, but I really want to read that book.
DeleteI do enjoy a good cat and mouse game. Hope you really enjoy this thriller!
ReplyDeleteI suspect I will. :-)
DeleteSounds excellent and the perfect book for me. I'll add it to my list.
ReplyDeleteThe whole series is great. Highly recommended.
DeleteWow! Sounds like quite the thriller. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I will!
DeleteI haven't read this author (s) yet but this sounds intriguing! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to help! LOL
DeleteI've been in the mood for a good thriller. This sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThis whole series is great!
DeleteI've heard of her, but haven't read any of her books. If this series is only 8 book in all, I think I can handle it. I think I subconsciously avoid the ones that have more than a dozen or so because I can never keep up!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I think next week's 'Top 10 Tuesday' will be exactly that topic for me. Well loved and noted mystery series that I haven't begun yet - many have over 20 books. I may not ever get to them. This one is worth your time. Frieda Klein is quite unique.
DeleteI've read some of French's books but none in this series. I've heard this is a really good one so I should get my hands on the first book (not sure if I have it or not!)
ReplyDeleteIt's Blue Monday. If you don't have it, the library definitely will.
DeleteI don't usually read thrillers, but this one does sound VERY intriguing! So I'm adding it to my TBR!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, and thanks for commenting on my "Can't Wait Wednesday" post!! Have a nice weekend!! <3 :)
Thanks, Maria!
DeleteI read one Nicci French book, and it was years ago! I think it was Killing Me Softly, but it's hard to tell with all the cover changes. I do remember enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love this one! :)
Thanks! I suspect I shall. I seem to remember a cover for Killing Me Softly, probably not the one that's on it now. LOL
