Waiting on Wednesday - Force of Nature

I'm posting a 'soon to be released' book on Wednesdays.  These will always be books that I am particularly looking forward to.

The book I've chosen for this week is the second book in Jane Harper's series featuring Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk.  I read this author's first book, The Dry, last year and enjoyed the Australian setting and the story so much.  In fact, our mystery book group will read and discuss The Dry for our March meeting.  Can't wait to see how the second in the series plays out.

Publication Date:  February 6th

When five colleagues are forced to go on a corporate retreat in the wilderness, they reluctantly pick up their backpacks and start walking down the muddy path.

But one of the women doesn’t come out of the woods. And each of her companions tells a slightly different story about what happened.

Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk has a keen interest in the whereabouts of the missing hiker. In an investigation that takes him deep into isolated forest, Falk discovers secrets lurking in the mountains, and a tangled web of personal and professional friendship, suspicion, and betrayal among the hikers. But did that lead to murder?

  2. So many loved The Dry that I should really give this author a try. Thanks for highlighting the next book. I didn't realize it was set to be published so soon.

    1. You ought to try THE DRY, Mary, when you're in the mood for a crime novel. The setting was very, very vivid (drought). Then, if you like it, the next would be available. Ha!

    1. Always nice to have two - that's not too many in a series if it appeals to you. LOL

  4. This sounds really good, adding to Wishlist. I haven't read something by Jane Harper before but have seen her books around. My Waiting on Wednesday is the new one by BA Paris.

    1. THE DRY was really good with a very vivid setting in Australia. It would be different from where you hail from Marce! LOL

  5. This came out a while ago over here so I've already read it. But my lips are sealed! I love going into a book knowing as little as possible about it. Enjoy!

  6. I have a copy of The Dry on my TBR as it got so many good reviews - I can't think of anything worse than having to go on a retreat with colleagues!

    1. Yes, that would be challenging. I don't think I liked anyone I worked with that well. LOL

  7. Force of Nature sounds good Kay - I recall my corporate days of team-building retreats which as an "introvert" I pretty much always hated. One however, was white water rafting in Maine which I loved:)

    1. White water rafting - not for me, but I suspect most would love it. That's a pretty cool team-building exercise. LOL

    1. I find it interesting that the drought plays such a part in THE DRY and this one seems to have green and trees, etc. Hope it's good!

  10. I seem to be in the mood for thrillers as of late (although I am going to take a break and read a fantasy novel next). This one sounds really good!

  11. I am very curious about what you think of this -- I LOVED The Dry and count it as one of the best things I read last year. But Force of Nature... I was getting so frustrated with it, I had to set it aside to take a breather and go back later -- which I still haven't done.
