I shared my Classic Club Spin #17 post last Monday with my 20 potential books. And said, if I had my choice, I'd like to avoid perhaps #1, #2, #3, and #10. Time constraints and other books preferred first. Well, as luck would have it (and here you know why I never gamble - I have no luck!), the spin number is....wait for it....
NUMBER 3!!!
Of course it is. Ha! I am excited about the book though. My spin book is:
I am planning on doing a read/listen. So tell me - have you read The Woman in White? What did you think? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm supposed to have it finished by the end of April. I think that's possible. Wish me luck!!
I've heard lots of good things about this book yet it's still sitting on my shelf, ha. I'll be curious of your take on this book and I hope you'll enjoy reading it.
ReplyDeleteI hope I do too, Melody. I've now got it in both print and audio. And I notice that Turner Classic Movies is showing it next week - it was a film in the 1940's maybe? I'm recording that to watch as well.
DeleteThis book is quite the running joke between me and a close blogging friend. Every year for about 5 years I've said I will read The Woman in White and every year I manage not to. I will get to it as I gather it's very good indeed and I've read a couple of his other books and enjoyed them. Good luck, Kay!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the luck, Cath! We'll see how it goes. LOL
DeleteI hope you enjoy this one as much as I did! I reread it a couple of years ago for Carl's RIP challenge to see if it held up to my memories, and I enjoyed it just as much after all those years!
ReplyDeleteGood to know, Jenclair. I'm hoping I get enough time for it. Have you ever seen the movie? Noticed it is on Turner Classic Movies next Tuesday.
DeleteI haven't read it, but several years ago I bought the audio from Audible. I'll await your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI got the audio as well. Hoping it will be good.
DeleteI've wanted to read that for a while.
ReplyDeleteI think it seems to be on several TBR lists. Ha!
DeleteYou've got quite a chunky book ahead of you! It's a good one and I hope you'll enjoy it. I read it years ago and did love it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a little long. We'll see if I get it finished.
DeleteI've read this book and I absolutely loved it!! And even though it's long, I never felt like it dragged or read slow. I just enjoyed the characters and the story and the way Wilkie writes. Good luck! I hope you like it, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lark! I hope I do too.
DeleteThis is a good one, Kay... such a memorable villain! The Moonstone is my favorite Wilkie Collins, but this is a close second. Can't wait to hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, I'll get it finished by the end of next month. If I'm not quite through with it, I'll eventually get it done. LOL
DeleteI read it last year and really enjoyed it. Though I did find the writing style so rich that I could only read it a chapter of two at a time. It was a bit like a box of really good chocolate that I allowed myself one piece at the end of the day as a treat.
ReplyDeleteA box of good chocolate, huh? Well, we shall see. I do have the movie set to record. It's going to be on Turner Classic Movies next Tuesday. :-)
DeleteI read THE MOONSTONE by Wilkie Collins in a college lit course, but I don't remember a thing about it. Not even if I liked it or not. I hope you enjoy this one. If you do, maybe I'll give it a chance :)
ReplyDeleteI think what I'm hearing is that more people liked The Moonstone. However, I'll at least try it.
