Hello friends! I'm back from my break and am glad to be moving along into fall or fall-ish months. Remember that I live in Central Texas and so we are still having temps in the 90's. However, school is back in session and the calendar says 'September'. I choose to think that it's fall.
We had a nice trip to New Mexico, one of our favorite vacation spots. We go to the Ruidoso area in the southern part of the state. The mountains there are actually the closest ones to us, so there are lots of Texas license plates in that little vacation town.
It was cool and very, very pleasant. The area where we stay is over 7,000 feet and so nights get down into the 50's right now and days are usually upper 70's. Lovely! I'm sharing a couple of shots from my morning walks. I love walking now, as I've mentioned, and I saw deer and rabbits and a dead snake. I listened to a bunch of audiobooks and also read several books. I'll talk about those later in the month.
I've got lots of posts scheduled (breaks allow for that) and so I'm ready to go. I'll be around to talk to everyone this week. Happy fall!!
Lovely to have you back, Kay. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cath!
DeleteYour vacation must have been wonderful. Love the pics - looks so peaceful. Thanks for sharing and nice to have you back!
ReplyDeleteIt was very peaceful and quiet - well, except for what I hearing through my earbuds. I walked early in the mornings in the cool.
DeleteWelcome back! Your vacation sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe had a great time, Tina!
DeleteI've been to NM several times, mostly Albuquerque (balloon Fiesta) and Santa Fe (my favorite). Glad u r back Kay and that you had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteYes, we've been to the northern part of NM too, but this part is closer to us. I'd love to go to the balloon festival one day.
DeleteWelcome back, Kay. Glad you enjoyed your time in NM. We're off on another travel adventure soon and will end up there... spending time with my BIL and SIL in Santa Fe, then flying home from Albuquerque.
ReplyDeleteLate summer and fall are great times to be in NM, JoAnn. Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!
DeleteWelcome back, Kay! Glad you enjoyed your break, and isn't it nice to have a little stock of posts ready to go?
ReplyDeleteYes, it does help to have some posts scheduled. And thanks for the welcome back!
DeleteI'm glad you're back and that you had a great, restful time. I know the area you visited and we visited there several years back. It makes for a lovely respite.
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed, Margot. We really love it. Great golf weather and great walking/reading weather.
DeleteI am glad you had a nice vacation, Kay. It's great to have to back! Our temps are in the 90's as well, but at least the evenings are cooling down some. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy! Yes, I imagine you guys are still a little warm as well.
DeleteWelcome back Kay and I for one am looking forward to those upcoming posts!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear, Cleo!
DeleteI always struggle with getting into the fall mood when the weather in Santa Barbara can be at its hottest in September and October and sometimes into November. Glad to see you back.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracy! Yes, I do sometimes have trouble getting into the fall mood. I do better with spring.
DeleteGlad you had such a nice break. Hopefully, cooler weather will be headed your way soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...well, maybe in November or so. Ha!
DeleteI'm ready to call it Fall, too, Kay. I put an autumn wreath on our door today even though it's 91 degrees out! Ew! So glad you had a vacation and lovely walks; I'm looking forward to hearing about what you read.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meredith! I think an autumn wreath sounds very nice.
DeleteWelcome back, Kay! Your vacation spot sounds lovely, I could use temps like that!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think most are ready for a little cool.
DeleteYay! I'm so glad you're back. Your vacation sounds lovely! Cool temps are my favorite. We won't have them for months still ... :(
ReplyDeleteOf course you won't have them for months, Susan. Ha! Of course, you live in Arizona. Your area is great in the winter, right?
DeleteWelcome back, Kay! I'm glad you'd a wonderful vacation. Sounds lovely! I'm looking forward to your upcoming posts. Hopefully you've also read lots of interesting books during your break so we'll get to hear your thoughts on them as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI did read a lot of fun books. I had some reviews already written, but have a few more to catch up on.
DeleteIt sounds like you had a nice vacation - walking & exploring the mountains sounds like a lot of fun. I can relate to having a good number of posts lined up after a break; I'm in the same situation myself. Great to see you back, and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jade! Yes, having the posts already written is good, but it's been a while since I read the books. Sadly, I'm already going over them and thinking 'what was that one about??'. Ha!
DeleteNM sounds like heavenly weather!! That's what we should be having, but no, the heat has come back. But next week should be bringing more normal temps. I'm happy you've had such a wonderful vacation.
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice indeed. I owe all of you an email, which I might get to tomorrow. We've had a lot going on and I have mystery group tonight. Gotta get off the computer and get stuff together for that.
DeleteBecause I was gone too, I hadn't realized you were on a break! Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was nice, but it's nice to be home too. Always a lot to do to get back into the swing of things.
DeleteI really hope we don't have any more 100s - I'm ready for Fall! So glad you enjoyed your time away. New Mexico is so pretty isn't it? I've only been to Taos & Santa Fe but would love to explore more.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like the southern regions of NM too, Iliana.
